GPM rating on fuel pump?
GPM rating on fuel pump?
Reason:
I'm looking for a quick way to drain my gas tank without going through the filler. I put a coil spring apparatus in there that prevents anyone sticking a hose and siphoning my precious gas from my tank...including me. Good going, right?
Soooooo...my solution is:
Disconnect the outlet on the filter, press a tube on there, feed it to a gas can and turn the key.
I know they're there for pressure...not high flow, but I was curious about how long it might take to drain it.
Hopefully, not too empty as I found that running it dry can be bad for the pump as it uses the gas to lubricate itself.
By my estimate, there are 12 gals in there. With GPM rate, I can calculate how long it will be until about 3 gals remain.
I could empty into 2-5 gal cans, sure, but wondering if anyone had this info.
...or just have a good ear and listen when it starts to slurp air and cut power FAST!
2003 XLT 4.0L SOHC
The manual says 9H903 for the part number, but Google is failing me with keywords of "Motorcraft, fuel pump, GPM, 9H903, 2003 ford ranger" and anything to help find that elusive GPM rate.
Thanx for any info.
