Help me ID these parts, please!

First time poster, but avid reader and searcher through the archives. Thanks so much for all of the great help you all have already given me.
I just replaced the blower resistor on my 96 Ranger 4.0 and now, my blower works on more than just high.
While I had the coolant and washer tanks removed to get at the blower resistor, I came across two things that were just hanging, and I have no idea what they are.
I figured out that one must be a vacuum line since it comes from the vacuum ball but I don't know where it goes. It looks like the end is burned from the exhaust.
The other is a bit that looks like it should plug into a connector. Any ideas?

Yes, that is a vacuum line
The vacuum reservoir(ball) has 2 hoses connected, one runs from the ball to the firewall and into the cab via a connector(next to blower), this line powers the vacuum "motors" that operate the Vent selection in the cab, with no vacuum vents are stuck in Defrost mode.
The other vacuum line runs to the intake manifold, vacuum source, since this is a full time vacuum line it may often have a "T" on it to power another vacuum operated part, like fuel pressure regulator, EGR solenoid, EVAP solenoid, ect......
There should be a vacuum diagram on the rad support, find the "vac res" and follow that line back to intake, you should see the "T", and then where it goes.

I found the other end, it runs to the back of the intake manifold where all sorts of vacuum attachments exist.
It appears that this vacuum line somehow burned or was cut somehow, and now both ends of the break are closed (either something was stuffed in the tube or it fused closed, not sure) but, the truck is running well, and the heat and blower seems to be working well so I wonder what it controls -- I guess I will find out when I fix it.
