How can I make my V6 as loud as it can be?

Okay, I have a 1997 4.0L V6. I strank the exhaust length by bringing the tail pipe out in front of the passanger side rear tire. I have a Cherry Bomb Glasspack but honestly it's just not loud enough. I live in Pennsylvania so I have to pass emission. (Removing CATS is out of the question). How can I make my ranger as loud as it can possibly be. DISTURBING THE PEACE LOUD!

V8 swap with open headers.
Makes the cops heads spin around like Linda Blair's in the Exorcist.

V8 swap is in my mind. However I would have to change my transmission. Im trying to keep it cost effective. Im in college and have two mustangs. Although my truck is the play around toy. Just trying to keep the price of supplies at a minimum. I like the V8 swap idea though

Well I was think about taking both CATs out and putting in one high flow so it should still pass emissions.

i don't think that would do much, probably more trouble than it's worth. glasspacks do sound ok in place of the factory muffler, they are sure cheap but you have to keep in mind, its still just a v6 and can only sound so good.

Go 2.5" pipe strait from the manifold back, one high flow cat and slap a super 40 or something on there and dump it under the bed. At the end of the day it's still a v6 it's not going to be anything crazy loud

Yeah V6 is not very loud. I guess I could spring out some money for a 5.0 but the stock transmission won't be able to handle that much engine.

i took my cats off ran 3inch pipe into a glasspack then y-pipe into 90degree duals its not terribly loud but your never going to find that v8 sound out of a v6 theres no way. another option is u run a larger pipe and then a big tip on it.

Strait pipe no muffler...
Swap one of those mustang motors in it. Duh. who needs two? you can only drive one car/truck at a time.

You want loud go this route. Whistle tips! Then you hit them with the flows. They just for decoration man.

Wirelessly posted (Droid2)

I had a 92, 4 banger with no muffler. Ran side exhaust out behind the tire on each side like the factory exhaust. Think I had 1 and 7/8, or 2 inch tailpipes and it was stupid LOUD!!! Wouldn\'t go that route again, got pulled over several times and warned. The cops said they could hear me coming a mile away!

I ran mine with no muffler/tailpipe for a while. I think thats about as loud as you can make one of these trucks, while keeping it a v6. I was waiting for my exhaust to come, so I kinda had to. Sounded like crap, especially at highway speeds. I was so thankful when I finally got the dynomax installed, the drone was getting on my nerves. You probably don't care, but I found that nobody really wants to hear your exhaust but you. Especially with 7 billion peeps on the planet, its not like people are talking about how awesomely cool you sound as you drive by them lol...
