btw, what is up with amsoil. the truck i have has only had motorcraft since day one. no leaks nodda. the only thing i have done is the cruise recall and the iac valve.
I've got 120,000 on my '99 OHV and it's been a decent engine.
Thus far, I've replaced the following:
-upper intake gasket
-IAC valve
-tensioner
-(soon the lower intake gasket)
I haven't sunk a whole lot of money into keeping this thing running. It's never left me stranded (not counting getting stuck in the mud!), and it has respectable power. Even mileage is fair with proper gearing.
The 4.0s are better than the 5R55E transmissions bolted to them if you ask me...

My 2004 has 23000 miles, the engine runs perfect. But I have the feeling the tranny isnt built for the long haul. . It just doenst seem to shift very smooth for only 23000 miles. Unless the trany in our Rangers arent exaclty the smoothest tranny they made.....I dont know. I traded in an 02 tacoma on this Ranger, sometiemes I wonder if I made a mistake?......

I got 160,000 on mine and it still has alot of pep in it. I'm going to be to going to the drag strip this summer to see what kind of numbers it can put up. Ya the 4.0L engines are great as long as you keep up with maintenance and all you'll be fine. I'm in the process of replacing all my fluids, that will def. help it run stronger longer.

My buddys had about 220,000 on his 92 and he beat the living **** out of it didnt take care of it or anything either finally blew up cause you had to hit the rev limiter to get it to shift into gear heres a pic of it.
