My '05 has 24,000. Granted that isn't a lot, but I've heard these motors last a long time. Let's hope so.

Billy, Rangers didn't have SOHC 4.0 liters in 99. 2001 was the first year...

I've got 120,000 on my '99 OHV and it's been a decent engine.

Thus far, I've replaced the following:
-upper intake gasket
-IAC valve
-tensioner
-(soon the lower intake gasket)

I haven't sunk a whole lot of money into keeping this thing running. It's never left me stranded (not counting getting stuck in the mud!), and it has respectable power. Even mileage is fair with proper gearing.

The 4.0s are better than the 5R55E transmissions bolted to them if you ask me...

You mean in my sig? Some people on here think that it is a waste of money and will ruin your engine (I know otherwise). So I update my miles monthly to show that my truck still runs and performs fine with amsoil...

My 2004 has 23000 miles, the engine runs perfect. But I have the feeling the tranny isnt built for the long haul. . It just doenst seem to shift very smooth for only 23000 miles. Unless the trany in our Rangers arent exaclty the smoothest tranny they made.....I dont know. I traded in an 02 tacoma on this Ranger, sometiemes I wonder if I made a mistake?......

well i ran royal purple in my 94 cobra for years. the problem i had was a few leaks here and there. i started at about 24ooo miles and by 60k it leaked but not bad around the rear main and stuff. i am just afraid to add it now and have problems down the road. whatcha think? i am a syn fan but....

I got 160,000 on mine and it still has alot of pep in it. I'm going to be to going to the drag strip this summer to see what kind of numbers it can put up. Ya the 4.0L engines are great as long as you keep up with maintenance and all you'll be fine. I'm in the process of replacing all my fluids, that will def. help it run stronger longer.

Mine is a '01 4.0L with 200k and it still runs very strong, it doesn't burn oil or anything, no issues at all

187,000 on mine, and most of you know where it is right now.

I am impressed, though. The damn thing ran on 4 dead cylinders.
