I got Pwnd!

So I am comming home today and I see another ranger. I look over at it and to me it seems like a newer year prob 2004+. I didnt see any new exhaust piping or new tips or anything that hinted to some performance mods. I catch up to him and I gun it and we both started to laugh and he asked if I had the 4.0 (yes). We then raced from a rolling start and holy crap this guys truck had a massive kick....I was left in the dust.

What can i do to get more power and a nice kick like that besides doing something crazy like turbo or nos?

Cliff Notes:
-I got owned by another ford ranger racing
-His truck has a huge kick
-How can I make mine like that?

x2 on the manual trans.

2nd governs at 60 mph for me. Before the deavers went on, I could smoke the tires in 1st, squeal in 2nd, and chirp in 3rd from power shifting (only done it twice, once to a primered ricer shortly after getting the truck [his woman smiled at me ] and recently when a civic hatch back si tried to fart can me off the line....we caught the next 2 lights, 2nd light he didn't respond)

I lightly raced a 02/03 4x4 flareside dark blue (midnight or wedgewood blue??) ranger about this time last year on University Ave here. Speed limit is 35 on it, goes to 40 near the dorms/ I-25 on/off ramps. We both gunned it from a light and I killed the foot at 60. He pulled into the dorm parking lot at Garcia Hall here and I actually turned back, hunted the ranger down and left a note on it. Told him about this site. He pm'd me but I've not heard back since.

I think he was manual just because the sound comming form his truck sounded like some high rpm but i had my windows down and blowers on (didn even know it was on till you asked me) but idk it wouldnt make too much of a difference i mean he had a decent kick but then again i was sketching out because it was my first ranger race and i was just happy it happened.

never raced a ranger but I sure suprised a taco and a stock mustang gt auto (like mid 2000s model). Im currenty having my truck data logged and Fred from rogue performance is making me a tune. I felt no difference with my orginal bama but now I feel alot of power. My bigger rims took away some get up but I feel like I have more then ever now especially since my tires give me traction
