Intake question

Quick question...

Is any cold air intake worthwhile for a 94 4.0? Would I really notice much gain for the price?

I just wonder as the stock system seems to have a decent layout. Honestly, the price for some of the kits...holy moly. 😵‍💫

Thanks.

Don't bother. While I don't have any data, I've never heard of any appreciable improvement from one of those kits.
The intake and air filter housing is on the right (passenger) side and might already be ported to cooler air as is the AF housing of the 4.0l SOHC in later trucks.

You'd have to keep track of fuel mileage in order to compare stock to some expensive, under-hood snorkel.
Most people don't have the patience to do this. It's so easy to do.

If your '94 is ratty, maybe consider exercising your cutting & fabrication talents by forming your own air hole OR routing cold air toward the opening you have.
You don't want to send water into your air cleaner box.

How 'bout some description of your '94. It's already a relic. Color, odo, transmission, mods, major surgery...likely 4WD but...?

Most of these CAI don't pull enough cold air to make a difference and just pull hot air from the engine bay.
