MPG

Just wondering if anyone else has issues with very poor MPG on their 1999 Ranger 4.0L. I got new spark plugs and a new fuel pressure gauge because there was gas in mine. The o2 sensors are in good shape. I am currently getting around 11 MPG.

Welcome to the forum

You either have an odometer problem, MPG calculations are off
Or your engine is running too Rich

Look on the drivers door sticker for Stock Tire size, if you are running taller tires than stock the odometer will be off, it will be low, i.e. it will say you have traveled 100 miles when you have actually traveled 120 miles

Speedometer will also be off

There is no fuel pressure gauge or sensor on Rangers, of any year????

Run your finger around COLD tail pipe, look for blackish residue of Rich Running
Old spark plug tips would also show this with a dark brown color, should be very light brown tint if it was running on good fuel mix
