Icon4 Opinions...Deal or Not?

Im looking at a 1999 Ranger 4x4 4.0 Automatic with 108k miles on it. Exterior is in great condition no major dents and great paint and the interior is spotless. The underside like frame and suspension are solid but it seems like it was never properly undercoated so there is some rust but most seems to be mostly surface rust. After all it is a '99 so it couldn't be that bad right? Went for a test drive and it runs great, quiet, powerful, shifts smooth, and does not leak any fluids. Definitely seems like a solid truck. He was asking $6900 but I got him down to $5500. Does this seem like a good deal or not? From reading other posts on what people have paid for their rides Im begining to think $5500 is to much? Also is there anything I should be warned about or things I should check for on those year rangers? Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated

A 99 should be in pretty nice shape for that price. If you look around you can find them cheaper but they usually have some problems. I'm not trying to "sell you" mine but I have 2 99 rangers and will be selling one soon. One of them is worth that much but the other isn't....just depends on the truck and the options.

Idk sounds like a lot of miles for that price. If you dont know how the previous owner drove or maintained the truck. Sure they are good trucks, and most likely will get high mileage out of it, but I would probably talk him down lower then that.

Just my opinion though.

4x4 would be sweet to have!

when i bought my '99 i was listed as 6'900 i think...It had 76,xxx with no leaks at all (until i found out later the headliner leaked bad ..) anyways had very monor scratches and a small dent on the roof...Well i still had about $2000+ on a car loan so he paid my truck off and knocked like a grand off the ranger, so i got outa their with paying like 58-5900 with taxes etc...

So i say yeah its a good price

yeah i guess 5500 might be a little high but when checking the book value its around 6900 kbb and 7200 nada. Im kinda out of time and need something this weekend so I think im just gonna go for it. I hope im not making a big mistake. If the truck runs well for me and doesn't give me any big problems i wont regret the price but if it turns out otherwise i would be frustrated. Ive been a toyota guy before this and i just felt like giving ford a chance since i've had alot of problems with the toyota's ive owned over the years. Not to say they aren't good trucks...they ran.....but there was always little things going wrong that were such a pain to try and figure out. Check engine lights abs lights etc...... Anyways thanks for your opinions.
