1. What's your set up?
2. How did it turn out!??

I'm dying to get an exhaust put on. My buddy borrowed my truck yesterday to run to Autozone, so I saw it driving down the road for the first time.. it looks good, but its too quiet

If your going dual out, do 2.5" pipe into the muff, and dual 2". If going single, go 2.25" all the way back.
This I will consider. The local exhaust guy usually has good advice. He's a little older, and operates just as something to stay busy with, working on people's vehicles. I'll take it to him and see what he's got for advice too. Maybe I'll delete the 3rd cat too.

Who has proof to back this up? And if so with what muffer with what set up?
D ran his truck on the dyno with several different mufflers. 15 or so hp loss on the flows compared to magnaflow.

if anyone knows mufflers on the 4.0 D is one of them, same with Nick, both of those guys run magnaflows.

For what style?

IMO a SINGLE in SINGLE out, muffler all mandrel bent 2.5" Magnaflow makes several ovals that are 2.5" in and 2.5" out.

I have ran them all, my current setup is by far the best one i have had but is alot of work and most people wont do it.

Few pics during the install

That looks good! Lol And the work thing, not really what I'd worry about. It'd just cost me more, since I'd have my grandpa's buddy do it.

All I know, is that I want duals that sound good. Whether it's "true duals" off the manifolds, or whatever,

I'm not looking to go all out(headers) cause I'd prefer to just swap in a 5.0 which would make it much easier making it sound deep lol

df40 = considerably quieter than orig40 on a v8.
df40 = louder at idle than super40 on a v8. super40 still louder than the df40 on a v8.

I'm running super40s on my chevy...soon to try out originals....nothin' quite like that idle the originals do.

so why did you decide on the offset 3" in and 2.5" dual out?

idk...i should have bought the center 2.50 in/dual 2.25 out...didn't actually think when i ordered it. lol. i just finally installed it.

it'll get 2.5" pipe coming into the 3" on the muff, dual 2" tailpipes coming out the 2.5" outs on the muff, and it'll be dumped right before the hitch/inside the frame rails...shouldn't see it from the outside.

I have true dual exhast and long tube headers on my 1967 Mercury Cougar it has a 289 and I think that it is kind of to loud but it is a muscle car and I don't drive it all the time but if it were my DD I would hate it. I know you didn't want to hear it but Borla or Bassani sounds the best and not so loud IMO but I am not sure what your going for.

ok.

so after a few days with a super44 w/ no tailpipes. i must say....best sounding flowmaster i've ever ran on the ranger. hands down...best one. I heard tonight....my old super40 that's dumped, my old original 40 that's dumped, a delta40 w/tailpipes, and my new super44 no dump/just muffler and nothin' behind it. i must say...i love mine!! best choice imo. definately a super44 believer.

I cannot wait til i have tailpipes on it and gears! FTW!
