Nice, how bout a rough estimate on the total price. Would like to do the same to my 98 ranger.

Im gonna guess around 1500 possibly more, not sure what lifters cost.

Is your head cracked or are you looking for another reason.

I've thought about doing this to my truck. so. many. times.
I think the biggest price would be getting the heads re-finished. last i checked i found a guy who would do for around $200 a head.

Machine shops can get pricey REAL quick

Don't bother with machining these OHV heads.

New castings are 205 with valves and springs 150 without. Plus shipping.

Hey Zach, was the crack a visible one? I'm really starting to thing I have a cracked head or something of the sort. My rear passenger cylinder keeps fouling the plug causing a misfire. Its not terrible, but my gas mileage is pure poop and the check engine light has come on. I did change the plugs and it helped but of course its just going to foul again I think. I'm just trying to figure out how I can diagnose the problem.

imo best way to install headers on this motor.. the one on the drivers side in particular ..pita

Hate to brimg up an old thread but how many miles have you put on her since the new heads? Curious how the bottom emd is holding up im in the process of putting new heads on mine and undecided to dig in to the bottom or leave well enough alone.
