2001 4.0 4x4 with whistle coming from PS pump. It doesn't whine, steers easily, and the pulleys all look they are aligned. I isolated the noise by connecting the belt to just the crank pulley, idler and PS pump pulley and holding on to another idler pulley from the belt tensioner that I just replaced due to a noisy bearing.
I have heard there are PS pumps that don't shine, but how can the PS pump whistle and how can I make it quit? The engine runs quiet as hell with no belt at all, so can I just leave it off? (just kidding)
