Actually the Cobra was heavier, not by much maybe 400-600 pounds being a supercharger, all that it included, larger rims/tires etc etc. A stock Mustang GT of 03 runs about ~14 ish. I raced a manual the other day in my SS and barely lost to him starting from a dead stop, however on a 2x something roll I was a few car lengths ahead.

I started reading this post and felt I should jump in. I have had several Mustangs going back to a 68 Grande with a 390 and a worked over 83 GT with an honest 360hp @ the tires. Calling a Stock GT a fast car is like saying "my Volvo wagon is fast".
It takes a lot of work to make a stock GT fast but then you need to make it stop and "Handling" is a whole nother subject.

Why is the GT not a fast car? I mean its a car that is (1) 4 years old (2) has a 0-60 time of 6.0sec and (3) it was in the mid $20K brand new... I mean it was nothing extremely impressive, but for the price.... yeah

Let alone the new one with a stock 0-60 of 5.2.....

For 12K i can find a Black 5 spd 2003 GT with under 40K miles and in great condition.. IMO thats a deal you cant beat and if it wasnt for inurance i wouldnt have a Ranger right now.

LOL I find it interesting, everyone on the cobalt sites think a 14.1 in a stock car is slow. But personally, low 14s in a 20 grand car is freakn awesome. From what I recall is the Fox bodys were running like 15s flat, then they went to the 4.6 motor and it was a pos until fairly recently. Then mustangs ran 14.5 ish (GT manuals mind you) and now the GTs have lost some weight, and added some power and run mid 13s.

yeah foxbodies did good compared to the SN95 because they weighed less with around the same power as the early 4.6.. '99+ is when they started getting better.

68 Mustang = Pony Car

68 GTO = Muscle Car

and my Ranger gets up to 85 in a big hurry, it just won't do squat after that...but let's see how the stang and taco keep up on the trails.
