i have an 1998 ford ranger 3.0 4x2 and look to buy an 2003 4.0 sohc (blow up) (head failure) 4x4 ranger.

it is possible to put the 3.0 98 2x4 manual into a 2003 4.0 4x4 manual?

i have an 3.0 4x4 manual transmission at my home

the wire harness is same?
motor mount?
exhaust?

 

If you're going to the expense and trouble of a motor swap why not do a 5.0 swap about the same amount of work, plus more rewarding

 

The 5.0 swap is not for now i dont have money to do that but the 2003 4x4 ranger i have it for very cheep with winter tire mandatory in québec to october to april and need 4x4 because the winter it have a lot of snow strom and need to go to my school car mecanical

 

Its your truck, do whatever you want. I was just trying to suggest not to waste your time on the 3.0

 

You will pretty much have to swap everything from the 98 to the 2003 including the dash harness, fuel lines, you will have to find a engine harness and transmission harness for a 98 with 4x4 and manual transmission.
