Possible engine swap?

I think I blew up my 3.0 flex fuel motor in my '99 Ranger. I have seen several 4.0 liters available on craigslist. Will this motor fit on my Ranger without any modifications?

Thanks!

There would def be quite a bit of modifications. It'd probably be easier just to go 5.0 than a 4.0.

If you stayed with the same year, you'd need the complete engine, most accessories, engine wiring harness, cables, PCM, Y-pipe and transmission. Go for a different year and you might need more.

Go with a 5.0. 1999 to 2001 Ford explorer had the 5.0. if you stay on it there have been people who have done it within 10 to 12 hours. Some even less than that. That engine will literally bolt right in. Plus since you already have basicly just about the same vehicle with very few changes a donor would be perfect for you. everything would just about bolt right into your ranger with little or no effort. Those are the most popular sought after years for engine swap projects because of it basicly just about the same chassis as you your ranger only with a 5.0 between the frame rails. Basicly Ford already has done the swap for you IMO.
