Spark Plugs Wires & Spark Plugs

I have a 99 Ranger XLT 4.0 OHV. Has 111miles on it, no spark plug records. Was thinking of replacing them for good measure.

Looking for your input! Should I go motocraft or other??? Is there a better brand?

Thanks!

I'm a Ford guy, so Ford parts. Though your plugs should last to the 150k mark, wires too. Unless you've had oil/anti freeze burning, something to foul the plugs. Good mileage for a 99.

Preference in order...
Ford: Motorcraft, Autolite.
Chev: AC/Delco, Champion
Dodge: don't know don't care don't like.. LOL

Motorcraft. Everyone says autolites are the same, but i never had any luck with them. They suck.

Stick with factory Motorcraft plugs. Motorcraft SP500 are platinum and should last for another 100,000 miles.

I’ve got 20k on the NGK set and no problems at all. I pulled on of the plugs and they still look great truck runs good so I’m very pleased.

NGK all the way!

I replaced the original autolites in my 92. They were definitely original because 2 of them were fouled and another the tip just crumbled to nothing when I pulled it out. I replaced them with NGK Iridium IX spark plugs and I have NGK wires on the way that should be here Tuesday. I've had no issues with NGK and they have always restored the vehicle to a desirable running condition. NGK has my vote.

I read that our 4.0's have a "waste spark" system so the double platinum plugs are required. Lesser plugs get eaten up fast.

"Waste spark" means that the spark plug fires at some additional time (other than to ignite fuel) due to some mechanical simplification.

The additional spark does no harm so the designers decided to live with it.

Whatever goes in, I want the "100,000 miles" out.
