Squealing Noise
My 01 Ranger 4.0 has had an increasingly worse chirping/squaking sound coming from the engine. Happens once I start up the truck and persists all the way through driving it untill I turn off the truck. The noise speeds up with acceleration. I heard this could be a camshaft synchronizer, but I cannot find one that is made for the 4.0, only the 3.0. Any ideas? Thanks.

2001 to 2011 Rangers used the 4.0l SOHC engine which doesn't have the synchro unit, 1990-2000 4.0l OHV engine did.
Most likely cause of the describe noise is the fan belt, new one won't cure it unless you deglaze the pulleys, and maybe replace tensioner
Any time a fan belt slips on a pulley it Polishes that pulley in that spot, so new belt will slip on that polished area, polishing is also called Glazing, makes a surface like glass so no grip for the belt
Use sand paper or emory cloth to rough up pulley surfaces before installing a new belt, or paint pulley, anything that gives it a rougher surface, "smooth" is the enemy here.
Bad news is that the 4.0l SOHC engines 1997 to 2004 did have a known issue for the timing chains getting loose and "rattling", not a chirping sound rattle sound
