Icon5 think bout a turbo... got ?s

Ok guys im thinking about slapping a turbo on this thing. Now does anyone kno how much boost i can run without modding the engine? I have a buddy that works at a speed shop and he says that a turbo on the 4.0 could probably pull 300+ hp. I dont plan on doing it anytime soon just wanna get the facts. Thanks

You could do it but I wouldn't. The 4.0 isn't really setup to handle much boost. Then all the turbo parts would have to be custom so that will add quite a bit to the cost.

yea man the ohv motor is the one thats better equipped for it, blow to many head gaskets with the sohc if you go close to 8lbs or something like that. actually if you read the sticky on it, it will tell you a lot about what you can do with it.

Lets see. Rods, low compression pistons, MLS head gaskets, probably a non stock block, maybe some meth injection.....see where I"m getting at? Buy a fast car to go fast unless you have a money tree in the back to dump into your truck because you would be spending about what you paid for it to get it to handle 20lbs. Diesel swap is cheaper. Lol

I wouldn't even do that. As a matter of fact I had a blower I just never bought the manifold. The engine just sucks too much. HAHA.

The engines just fine for a blower and you know that...You said you had too many miles to put that blower on... Do what you want with the motor turbo, or s/c it's really up to you what you spend and how much time you wanna put in to it... I say be unique and turbo it!!!!

Yeah I said I had too many miles but also I put the blower on and what? My tranny probably would have let go since they are crap. Also if you read the review supersix motorsports did on the 4.0 they say that low boost is ok but any serious boost and you will start running into a lot of problems. http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/pdf/40SOHCTech.pdf The word Swiss cheese was use in there. In the end I'd rather boost something that will make decent power. Toyota 4.0 or a V8 truck if I were to stay with trucks.
