302 with a 6-speed auto??

This may be more a trans question, but I figured that it fit better here being that its gears to a v8 engine:

I have done a little researching but have not found much. Is there a 6-speed auto trans that you can couple with a 302? how about ford's new 6r80? is the 6r80 adaptable or is there something better performance wise? can that work in a 4x4 configuration?

Just wondering. Starting to get some ideas together for a v8 swap...

Thanks

Im pretty sure the mod motors have a different bolt pattens.

However TCI makes a modded 4l80e (chevy trans) that is a 6 speed. You can set up paddle shifters with it if you wish.

Ford Racing's X302 Crate Engine & TCI's 4L80E Six Speed Transmission - Car Craft Magazine

TCI® - Street Transmissions

Even with the stand alone computer the TCI has got to be cheaper than a new mustang 6 speed trans.

6r80 is junk...ask me how i know

go with a built e4od that you can use certain 4r100 parts inside to beef it up, or use a ZF or a 5 speed manual big boy transmission
