5.0 engine swap?

I have a 4.0 ohv v6 and was thinking about swapping for a 5.0 v8 and a stick shift instead of auto. I just need to know how much this would cost and I know anythings possible but is it practical?

Are there any junkyards around you that have 5.0 Explorers laying around?

Usually this swap is the cost of finding the junkyard parts and rebuilding or replacing what is bad, then the labor of the work to swap it, whether you or someone else does it

If you want to keep it a manual transmission you will need to get a 5 spd trans out of a 4.2L f-150. The bellhousing will bolt to the 5.0 and the shifter will come through the floor fairly close to the factory ranger location. As for a transfer case, a manual T-case from the f150 and maybe a bronco will work with a 1" or 2" body lift. These are all things i've read, i've never done the swap.

Well I don't have a manual. I have an auto and want to make it manual but it really doesn't matter. If its to much work to worry about then I don't care

Its all bolt in swap. You will need to reprogram the expo ecu for a manual.

is their no way to sticky some of the info of good 5.0 swaps threads? It seems like every comment in this section is just a bunch of dreamers that ask the same damn thing........
I have 01, I have 06, I have a 99, How much will it cost?, what do I need? is it hard?
Like come on your swapping a frickin motor and trans and possibly getting into some wire some complex some not. If your asking if its gonna be hard your probley in over your head to start with.
As for cost you pay someone or a shop to do it, then ya its gonna cost a **** load, If your thrifty and find the junk yard gem to start from you can swap it pretty cheap.
Google goes a long way for this particular topic.
So I gotta say again the same questions yield the same answers in most of the threads in the 5.0 section. it gets tiring reading it all...............end of my little rant
