a lot of work, time, effort, cusing, throwing things, and so forth.....

BTW: wasn't you just *****ing because of your fuel milage? a 5.0 (302) wont get no better milage than you alredy get now.....if that is your goal, then do as i have said before, SWAP GEARS!

The 99~2001 Explorer 5.0L engine would be the best choice for your 2004. Here are some threads that will let you know what to expect. Your 2004 will need somewhat different electrical mods based loosely on those for the 2001~2003.

Good detail Bob.

To answer your first question, what doe it take to put a 5.0L in a Ranger - research. Do some reading on the threads Bob posted and spend some time searching this board and the RPS board. There is alot of information on those pages. Also, are we to assume it is for your 2004? Are we to assume you are planning a stock explorer 5.0L or do you want something different, like the free 86 5.0L you got from your uncle's F150? Detail are necessary.

Anyhow, enought ranting - read up on the threads Bob posted and come back with any detailed questions you may have. We are happy to help.

It will be, if I can everget back to working on it. I have done nothing to it for about a year now. Planned to work on it this past week, but spent the whole time on the house projects...

Old progress can be seen on several threads I started on the RPS board.
