Are all 5.0s the same?

So im heading out to a Pull-A-Part Friday to pick up some leather seats for my Ranger and some other misc parts. While searching their website, I noticed they have several
5.0s but only one in an Explorer. Are all 5.0s the same? Because they have some in Broncos, and several other vehicles.
And also, how hard would it be to swap a 4.6L out of a Crown Vic into a Ranger? Theres tons of aftermarket parts for the 4.6 too

And also, I just got to thinking and I just remembered we have a 5.0 sittin in my garage lol. But I dont think its fuel injected... It same out of my brothers 1980 Bronco. Actually, it cant be fuel injected lol.
Anyways... Would a carbureted 5.0 work? Or would I be better off getting a fuelie?

Explorer 5.0s are ideal

94-97 are return fuel injected, those don't swap in unless you convert them to returnless

98-01 are returnless which is what you would want

You could go carbureted if you don't mind gutting your electronics.

Actually since you are 2004+ you will have to gut you're electronics anyway. Explorer 5.0s are pre-electronic gauge cluster and driver side fuse box. 04+ Rangers are passenger fuse box and electronic guages.

4.6L and 5.4Ls are long blocks, they are a whole other beast.

Fine, plenty of fabwork though.

FYI no one on the site is running an 04+ with a 5.0, 4.6, or 5.4 so you would completely on your own with the electronics portion of the swap.

Yeah pretty much any engine swap in a 04+ is going to be a nightmare.

Honestly I think swapping motors in an 04+ is pointless. I would just get an 03 and older being that it is much easier to swap.

Exactly.

Instead of tearing into a 2011 and the nightmare that it would be it makes more sense to but a good 93-00 that needs some work for a low price and have a toy. That way your only vehicle isn't tied up and you can work at whatever pace.
