seems to be a lot of threads about systems floating around, so i'm gonna add to it

i have a 10" JL w1 right now. it's great - super crisp and clear but i would like a little more low end bass. i would like to find a sub that can hit the lows but still hit the highs nice and crisp (like for rock cause 50% of my music is rock).would a 10" sub that runs at higher power supply this? what about a single 12"?

i'm lookin to spend somewhere around a hundred buck. these are the subs i found: CLICK

^^which of those would you suggest or add any others. personal experience would be most helpful. thanks guys

oh yeah, i have a reg cab, so space is limited.

 

What kind of box is it in? Sometimes you can change the box to make it play lower. In that price range, I'd stay with the JL 10W1.

 

it's just in a typical truck box. nothing custom. i was thinkin about building a box tho. thanks for the advice man

 

TC Sounds 10 is 100 bucks and i think they have a few sells goin on right now. They hit everything real well and great for SQ and SPL.

 

I personally like my Pioneer Premier TS-W2504SPL. It's a 10", handles 2500 max and 800 rms. I like the way mine sounds. I don't know where you might find one. Ebay has a few. I paid ~$125 a few months ago. I'm pushing it with ~500 watts rms and it hits nice in the highs and great in the lows. Mind you its in a big vented box. Well it's about 1.2 cu ft.

 

cool cool thanks for the info so far. i checked out the TC sounds site and the pioneer. i like the pioneer but that magnet look huge!

 

It's only 6.5 inches mounting depth.

 

yea its only 6.5...but and this is a big but

you can cut that fancy piece of plastic off the bottom of the pioneer sub and gain an entire inch or more of room

thats what i did to my 2 10" Pioneer's

I figure...what good is fancy plastic when its gonna be hiding inside a box...thats behind my seat, hah!

 

so true haha. gotta get all the space you can with these reg cabs.

how do you like the pioneers?? exactly what model are you running?

 

why would you down grade from jl to a pioneer? stick with the sub you got, and build a custom box for better lows

 

true that. i don't know what i was thinking. i realized the w1 is an excellent sub for the price. i'm in the process of building a box and i'm gonna buy another one.

I think you're going to really like having another back there. I had one ported w1 before I did my new setup. I wanted more bass too, and getting another sub or two really makes a great difference.

I assume you will be porting the new box, am i right?

 

nah, it's sealed. i just couldnt' find the space to run a ported box with 2 subs in a reg cab. plus i like the bass to be a little on the tighter side. i think (hope) it was still be sharp but the added sub will give a little more boom as well. that's what i'm aiming for anyway

so i realized what was wrong with my setup - too few subs. i got another today and installed it and it sounds amazing. these w1's are beautiful. not sure what i was thinkin before haha. i didn't get to snap any pics tho. i was stuck on finishing and it was dark by that time. sorry Will. i'll get em tomorrow for sure tho

sorry about the lag but here's the pics. i haven't carpeted it yet cause i just wanted to put it in. i couldn't bare listening to music without any bass haha. i'll carpet it later, so it looks kinda rough. fits nice tho. i sit a little close to the steering wheel but its bareable. sounds great tho!

 

i just found a good deal with a friend who has a brand new 9500 mtx 10 he wants to sell me, but the sub is like 45-50 pounds itself and takes 750-1000 watts to move it. has anyone else installed one of these, or heard one single used before?

 

Aaron, that sound system is lookin really good... glad the extra sub solved the problem, I knew you'd like it. Throw some carpet on that beast and you got yourself a bangin sound system right there...

few questions for ya, what amp you running with that? And how many cu. ft did your box come out to?
