The mic in my ranger is directly above my head. I have to almost yell when on a call to be heard. Is there an aftermarket replacement for the mic or a way to crank up the gain?

 

It's possible the Mic not ON, its using your phones microphone which is most likely far away and maybe covered, lol

If you are using a cable for charging and sync then turn your phone's Bluetooth OFF
Or just use Bluetooth, no cable
Having the cable connection AND Bluetooth for the same device causes issues with Fords SYNC system, so use one or the other

iPhones have an option for SYNC on or off, if you can see contacts and text messages on the Ford screen then SYNC is on, if not the SYNC is off and you need to turn it on, in the iPhone

 

Nah, that's not it. When I lean back and talk towards the mic (which is further away from the handset) it's way better.
