Alpine HU ?

Bought my truck used, came with an aftermarket system, pioneer speakers, and an Alpine HU. I want to wire in my ipod through the deck, and the local store here offers two products, one is if the HU is ipod ready and the other is if its not. Theres about a twenty dollar price difference, but i cant tell what my HU is. I tried looking it up online, and cant find it, its an Alpine HU CDA-9830. Can anyone help me?

According to crutchfield... that headunit did not come with the opition to direct connect the ipod. some have an extra thing u can buy to do that but not yours. you could always use an fm adaptor but usually the sound quality isnt so good. there may be other some way to hard wire it b/c it does have an aux input but dont take my word for it b/c i dont think that is possible... usually the aux input is for a changer or such. heres the details on that HU...
motorized, detachable fold-down face
plays MP3 and WMA files
plays audio CDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs
MaxTune SQ tuner
12 FM/6 AM presets
Bass Engine Plus (4-band parametric EQ, 4-channel digital time alignment , a 3-position crossover, subwoofer level and phase control)
MediaXpander
source tone memory
XM and SIRIUS Satellite Radio controls
CD changer controls for Alpine Ai-NET changers only
optional auxiliary input
4-volt front, rear and subwoofer preamp outputs
MOSFET internal amp
clock
wireless remote
18 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels, CEA-2006 compliant
CD frequency response 5-20,000 Hz
CD signal-to-noise ratio 105 dB
FM sensitivity 9.3 dBf
warranty: 1 year
most i could help ya out brah... but apline is one of the best by far so ya. if u really want to hardwire the ipod, it may be time for a new HU! ...Justin...

p.s. linky for your headunit... http://www.crutchfield.com/S-xLH9iUz...p?i=500CDA9830

I know Alpine (or somebody) makes a product that turns the cd changer input into an aux input. I'll do some checking and get back to you on Monday.

Can't find it on Alpine's website.

Like said above, if it is not iPod ready (which it appears it is Not), you will need a "Y" cable, male RCAs on one end (could be females, depending on AUX INPUT connectors) and a 3.5mm jack on the opposite.

Just wanted to clarify justistep's post.

Hey I actually have an Alpine model CDE-9852 I bought at BestBuy for only $179 (no tax here in New Hampshire) it comes iPod ready and has a plug alreday installed to accept the iPod plug.

I have Pioneers as well but I'll be getting rid of those sometime soon.
