I've always bought mine at a truck stop. They typically carry whatever you may need. I pick up everything from the cb to antennas to wiring. Pilot & Flying J are the ones I always go to.

GI Joes sporting goods also sells cb antennas.

i turn the gain all the way down when i am in close proximity to the person that i am talking to and the farther they get away from me i keep adjusting it higher so that it comes in clearly. gain is a really helpful tool. on a cb that does not have these options gain is set in the middle so you have the best of both worlds. but instead of turning the gain up and down you use squelch

Here is a decent way to set up your radio...

I have a Cobra 29 LTD ST

and a 4 foot whip that I payed 20 bucks for at radio shack.... The range of my radio is about 15-25 miles but my area of operation is mostly in a hole...

Ive seen people wire there CB into the ignition or into the fuse panel for power, but it helps cut out noise if you wire straight to the battery. Also Ford Rangers are bad about fuel pump interference...

I just finish installing mine in my truck and have two question, i bought an atenna with an adaptor for the coax to thread on, it has a palstic isolator for the middle cable but the ground has none is this normal? Also when i put the power on i have nothing coming out of the speaker and with the antenna tuner on both needle doesnt move? I didnt have to user manual with it cause i got it in an exchange, its an uniden.

Ok one trouble fix the cb works, just need to find why the antenna tuner doesnt work

Yes that is normal, it is not needed for the ground....

You need a SWR meter to tune your radio/antenna, dont use it till you tune it, because bad SWR's will burn up your radio.

Also if you ever move your antenna after tuning, you will have to tune again....

I use a 35ft whip antenna and Harris radio that pushes 1,000w. Mounted on 7 DC-9 engines. If I do it right, I can hit Europe.

And it's on a Destroyer. Probably not feasible for most.

it puts out so much juice that it'll destroy the electronics in vehicles or kill seagulls.
