Clarity and Bass Help

I must say that I like my music clear and loud. But since getting the new Alpine HU http://www.crutchfield.com/S-ZCvmtgx...0&I=500CDA9851 I cannot seem to find a happy medium. It is either too much bass or not enough. I have tried turning my box firing up, down, thru the seats and towards the back. Nothing seems to help. Can anyone help me via the board? I mainly listen to 80's Rock, some new rock and country.

Well, make sure you aren't controlling the EQ for the Sub with the HU....use the controls on the amp. Make sure the "Loud" feature is turned OFF.

Loud feature is off. As for controlling the sub via the amp only I pressume you mean the gain controls right?
The sub output on HU is set at +6, BBE is set at Level 1, Bass is set at 60hrtz, and treble at 10.0.
Hope this makes sense to you.

Unfortunately with the widely varying levels and quality of sound recordings out there, this is something that will always plague you. Best thing I did was install en external bass (gain) controler for my Amp. See if yours supports something similair, If not, then the best thing you have is the head unit's subwoofer gain. Unless your amp and gain **** are vary easy to reach, but I recommend you make it easy on yourself and just tweak at the head unit.
