Icon5 Component Help Needed

I know I do not have a Ranger anymore, but the guys over on the F150 forums aren't very helpful. I'm getting a set of Polk Audio DB6501's which are 6.5 componenets and I have no clue on what kind of amp to order. I know these handle 100 RMS a piece, so I'm thinking I need a 2 channel 250 watt amp? Thanks guys.

Buy something that does at the minimum of 100w rms x2 for best sound. I would not hesitate to buy a larger amp then that, it will only help the dynamics.

I dont know if you plan on extending you system down the road but if you do I recommend getting a nice 4 channel amp now rather than later( if you are expecting to expand to maybe 4 speakers). Match up the RMS of the speakers to the amp. Another thing is the speakers you are looking at are 4ohm make sure you are checking the power ratings for the amp for 4ohm and not 2 ohm.

If you're looking to go big, Crescendo 4 channel. If not, Rockford P400.4 OR MB Quart DSC4125. Hit me up if you like the MB Quart. I know where you can get one for a decent price right now. Same goes for the Crescendo.

If you plan on expanding then a 4 channel like the one you chose would be good. You can bridge the other two channels and put in a 300 watt sub or use them for 2 more speakers.

I've had good experience with MB Quart and Hifonics amps.

This would be another good option.

I think either one would be fine. The hifonics pushes 100w rms at 4 ohms like you need. Both brands are owned by the same parent company and should be reliable.

If you trying to decide between those two in particular maybe look at the physical dimensions as to what would fit better in your truck. Also think about if the glow from the hifonics might be annoying after a while. Otherwise the performance should be about the same.

This. Headroom is your friend for the best sound.
