subwoofer wont work

hey all

so i have two diamond audio d1 12" subwoofers bridged over a 2 channel 800 watt max power kenwood amp. one of the subs just wont make a sound... i took the non working sub out and put in a jl wo 12" and that worked fine so its not the wiring... what could be causing this? i mean obviously the sub is kinda dead at this point but i want to know why and to what extent. and it would be nice if there was a simple solution.

i have pretty good know-how with mobile audio but this seems to elude me.

thanks

perhaps the voice coil got overheated?

An 800 watt peak is probably around 400 RMS. Your speakers are what? 200 rms, and 400 peak? Seems like a perfect match to me, unless something is wrong with the bridging I don't know what would have gone wrong.

Ok well it sounds like you cooked one of the Diamond Audio 12s. The D1 is a 250 RMS and 500 watt peak sub and if your running the Kenwood KAC-7201 bridged to 800 watts at 2 ohms that is way more than enough power to cook that sub. I'm thinking you got lucky not to cook both of them!! As far as the JL 12s go what are they ?? w3s w6s ? If your not sure look on the back of the sub at the magnet and there should be a sticker that tells you what model number it is. One more thing you want to check is how you wired the subs the D1 is a dual voice coil sub and if wired up wrong you can drop it down to 1 ohm and that could cause the sub to cook.
