Factory CD player stopped working.

1999 XLT. A while back, out of no where, my factory stereo just stopped playing CDs. It''s like it doesn't reconize the disk. Is this a failure common to the factory CD players? I tried a cleaning kit to no avail. Any opition other than putting a new one in?

Thanks

buy a different stock one but that is still junk, so buy a aftermarket one.

I immediatly noticed a sound quality jump when I got an after market head unit and using the stock speakers. Pioneer 3 way speakers are also good quality for the money.
You should rid yourself of the cd's and integrate to a mp3 player setup.
