cruise control stopped working after tranny fluid change.

ok my friend has a '05 3.0 V6 5-speed. he recently got his transmission fluid changed and when he got it back his cruise control did not work. so we checked all the fuses and a 7.5amp fuse was blown in the fuse box under the hood so we replaced that and the cruise still does not work.(meaning the light on the dash will not turn on and it will not engage crusie on the highway). then we got under the truck to make sure everything was plugged in and it was. so my question is could they have messed up something when they changed his tranny fluid or is this a common problem and if so what do i need to do to fix it?

also he wants to put a new muffler on his truck.... was wondering what yall recommend for a good "deep" sound and not to loud.

thanks RF in advance

There is a test you can do that has been mentioned here, i will look it up. It is a test that you press all the buttons on the cruise pods on the steering wheel and it will blink the light on the dash and test all the components to aide in diagnostics.

It is in a cruise control thread, just search for it

as for exhaust, i have a 50 series Flowmaster and i love it

Take it to the place that changed it and tell them to fix it or foot the bill for Ford to fix it...

already tried that and they said that we would have to pay for ford to check it out and fix it and if ford found a problem that they had caused then they would reimburse us. but the fee to just check it out is 90 dollars and i dont want to have to put up the 90 out of my pocket.

is this the thread that you were talking about? it explains how to check the cruise control with the number of light flashes on the dash.

you can unplug them one at a time and drive it and see, be advised

if it is a manual, you will have to jumper the CPP for it to start
if you unplug the BPP, you will have to jumper the wires together for it to operate
if you unplug the BOO, you will not have brakelights when you test drive it.
if it is an auto, the CPP wiring is there, it has a cover on it that jumpers the wires

ok i kinda got confused a little bit......
BPP = brake pedal position sensor?
CPP = clutch pedal position sensor?
BOO.... i dont know what that is.

yes it is a manual.

and when jumpering wires, is there only 2 wires on the plugs or do you have the wire colors that i need to jumper?

and when bypassing the sensors (one at a time of course) which ever one that is bypassed and the cruise starts to work is the one that needs replacing correct?

The BOO switch is Brake On/Off and is located on the brake pedal arm under the dash.

the CPP i beleive has more than one wire but the BPP on the master clyinder only has two wires, make sure if the cruise control recall has been done to this truck that either of the two 2amp fuses are not blown in the recall connector
