got all four installed and the front drive side makes a white noise when the vol is on low , and if i crank up the vol , the head unit kicks off and flashes "protect" on the face

i have no i idea what could be the problem all the other speakers work fine

 

Specs on speakers/headunit?

 

Infinity kappa's. and a sony head , cant remember what model

 

Are you sure the connections are good on that speaker?

 

pretty sure , will check again here in a bit when i can get in the carport forsome light

 

i tryed putting that speaker back in and when i go screw in the blots i get poping noises in the speaker , but when its not in the door its fine ?

 

Are any exposed connections grounding out on the sheet metal? Do you have that one wired up right?

 

first i would check the connections. Sounds like you have one shorting to ground.

second, What ohm load are the speakers? Whenever I had kappas they were rated at 2ohms, and aftermarket decks are rated at 4 ohms. That could be the reason for the issue.

 

i re did the connections and idk what ohm load is , but the speakers are 300W

 

I'm almost positive that those speakers are 4 ohm. I have the same speakers on my factory 4 ohm head unit.

Edit: Just checked, the description says, "true four ohms."

 

what does that mean i relooked and my deck is a kenwood kdc mp 25

 

The impedance tells you basically how much current will flow through a speaker at a certain voltage. The speaker impedance only indicates how to drive the speaker to full power, that is, use an amplifier or head unit with a matching output impedance.

 

Yeah. Ive never understood it, as in the specs it will say 2ohm lol. I could be wrong, Im just going off what my old sets of kappas set (2 years ago). I put a set in both my old ranger and my mr2

 

I THINK I FIXED IT just for the he!! of it i put the front speaker in the back and the back in the front and it didnt pop when i put the speakers in ? so i slowly turned the radio up to 28 and all seems welll( these speakers sound great might i add ) so im going for a test drive too see if that fixed it

 

ok test drive when good played some rap and metal handles the rap bass good sometimes theres a small pop , but it handles metal nicely , theres alittle raddle in the rear speaker i may not have the rear cover screwed on tight enough

 

Mine sound great. No rattles, pops, or anything. Probably just the door panels making noise.

 

small occasional pops could be caused by a less then perfect ground..

 

turns out my bass was turned up to much and it was making the tweeter pop on high vol

 

Keep in mind, any bad noises from the speaker will be drowned out a lot in the rear. You may think they're gone but they may still be there, but are being drowned out by being in the rear, blocked by the seats..

If you wanna know for sure then adjust the fader all the way to the rear and crank her up. Any problem will (should) present itself..

glad you got it worked out but it sounds like you were shorting out a wire and the buzzing on low volume wasnt enough voltage to put the head unit into protect so you got the engine noise hissing and once you turned it up more voltage was being grounded putting the head unit into protect mostly all aftermarket headunits can take a 2ohm load especially kenwoods and sonys whatever you said you have so i doubt that would present a problem even if it couldnt handle 2ohms it would still work until you really started to blast it... my guess is that either the + positive terminal was touching the sheet metal or one of your screws was hitting a wire... when you moved the speaker to the rear you probably altered the way the speaker was mounted not resulted in a grounded +
