Installing Rear Speakers

Installing Rear Speakers
I have a 1999 single cab ford ranger, and it didn't come with factory-installled rear speakers, when i take the cover off of the speaker hole, there are no wires in it or anything, its just an empty speaker hole, how would i go about installing rear speakers in it if there are no wires already there?

Pretty easy to do. Find the wiring diagram for your year of ranger. Then you have to pop out your headunit so you have access to the wiring harness and the find the four wires that are not being used. Those are your rear speaker wires, on mine the wires were paired together, so they were easy to find. Make sure the colors correspond to whatever the colors are on the wiring diagram, you don't want to snip the wrong wires lol. Then you have to cut and splice your own speaker wire into the wiring harness. Takes like 30 mins to complete the job. Oh yea don't forget to add some speakers back there lol.
Some people say that if you look long enough then you can find the oem wires that were run to the rear speaker location. I couldn't find mine so I had to install my own.

I'm going through the same with my 03 reg. cab. I'll try to trace the wires and let you guys know what I find. Kinda stupid that they didn't rout the wires... but at least they gave us an install friendly rear trim panel.
EDIT: So I pulled the drivers seat and the door side trim and rolled the mat back... the connector is smack dab under your *** in the 2003 model, it is plugged into the harness for the 3rd(cab top) brake light I just snipped stripped and soldered then wrapped some speaker wire that I ran to the rear locations under the mat and rear trim panel. Fairly easy install once you know all you need to do is pull the seat and that trim panel at the bottom of the door.
Where I screwed up was that I bothered to pull the stickshift and all the trim around it thinking I would need access there, you really don't need to do so.
