Need help on what speakers to put in my truck

I have the standard 6-CD changer in my truck and am not goin to get rid of it...I love it...but want to upgrade my speakers. I was thinking of either Boston Acustics or Audiophile sepakers with 2 8in JL Audio subs...those are the best speakers I have heard but do not know many out there...I went to a audio place and he said the JL audio subs are the best so i figured i could get two 8s and I have a person who will build custom boxes for me to fit uner my jumpseats...Also would i need an AMP...I love music and like to play most of it loud...but needs to stay crip and clear...I am wanting some opinons on what you think and maybe what yall have done...Thanks for responding to this thread!!!!

for the subs, yes, jl's are good. for speakers, there's going to be lots of choices out there. any of which you pick, will sound better than what you've got now (assumming they're correctly installed with the amp, etc..). money is another isssue you'd have to decide on.. you can get speakers for 100.. or you can get speakers for 1000.. its all about a price range you want to stay within.

i have a friend that listens to lots of rock (classic, alternative, whatever).. he loves metallica, disturbed, stuff like that. he has Memphis all around, and i must say they sound very good for his music tastes. you're going to have people recommend infiniti's too.. they're nice, but dont handle bass well IMO, which might be a problem if you like rock (im talking about multiple bass guitars, on top of drums, etc..). then there's alpine- while they're alright, they tend not to like to be pushed (for those times you wanna crank it for certain songs, like you mentioned). mb quart also has a pretty decent line.. they've been bought out a while back and some say they lost their quality.. but all in all, i still think their premium line still kicks ***! jl has speakers as well as subs, if you like the company. some like them, while some dont. i liked their VR series alot and ended up doing them all around in my cousins thunderbird for his first system.. they handle great for what he needed. hmm.. that's pretty much the majority of the speakers in the same price range that'll be good for a first set for a system.. once you get the speakers picked out, then you can figure out what amp you'd want!

550-650 installed isn't all that bad if the amp is included.

That sounds like a desint price. I would have them install the subs and amp then you could just put in the speakers yours self. Its pretty easy and you could save yourself a few bucks too.

Yeah i havent installed any speakers in my doors yet, but i can tell you its really easy. If you install them yourself might as well buy a dynamat door full door kit. Someone did a how-to on doing that and installing speakers to make things twice as easy.

Just had a friend put in a system in my 01 4-doors. The front door was not too bad. We put in the Alpine SPR-57LS. Couldn't decide where we can put in the crossover, not much room. Finally, I had extra 5x7 baffles so we put the baffle in the speaker hole-in and toward the door frame, ziptied it inside the door, then ziptied the crossover to the baffle. The hardest part was building the rack for my Hifonics ZX8000. That thing is big, but it was the amp I had taken out of my SE-R. He built a box for 2-8" Solobaric that goes under the jumpseat. I am enjoying this system. For what I paid for the Alpine, they sound great. As for the sub, I love the old round solobaric. Don't like the new square one. Still have one 10" square Solobaric sitting around.
