Icon7 New AVIC-D3 but not for my ranger :-(

I bought an AVIC D3 a week ago after seeing it here.. I wanted it in my ranger really bad... but realized it would be better in the minivan for the kids and stuff..
anyway I got to say it went really well for not having any dash kit for the Kia Sedona. I got it wired to a DVD player/monitor that I had already put in a year earlier. I love this stereo and would recommend it to anyone looking for affordable double din navi/dvd player.
here's a link to the pics

also, I had a lot of help searching www.avic411.com/forum

I just bought one too!
I am working on the install, but am having trouble finding the speed signal input (for the Nav). Where did you find it ( i know, it's not in your ranger)??

I will check around in the AVIC forum too.

Thanks!

Vss

I know the wire comes off the Tranny and goes to the computer, that's where you could tie into it.. but tracing it to the computer would be hard, try just tying into it at the tranny. I found mine at the computer because KIA lets you look at wiring diagrams at their website. and it does help when going through large downtown areas with big buildings and through tunnels... (I tested the later just yesterday) Don't forget that the Illumination wire should be hooked up to a constant 12V lead when the headlight or parking lights are on not hooked up to your dash lights with the rheostat.

Yea they suck sometimes making a route, so I set waypoints on my trip from east texas to New orleans and it did flawlessly.. the POI search does pretty good.. sometimes the store or restuarant is a block or so off... but still handy.. especially navigating the backroads and neighborhoods to beat mardi gras traffic (without setting a route)

you want the gray/black wire, PCM pin 68
The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is on the passenger side firewall, under the hood.

To install a double din head unit I Read that one has to cut the bezel ... but in doing so you can't mount the stock radio back into the radio bezel.. is this true?

That's actually really good then... I was under the impression that doing so would ruin the bezel for if you ever needed to install the stock radio back in. Plus crutchfield said the same thing.

Wonderful!

I had to dremel a little on the inside of the bezel because of the lip to get mine to fit. My AVIC D-3 screen took a crap so I sent it for repair and re-installed the factory for the time being and you could not tell that I did anything to my bezel.
