Parametric EQ's? wtf?
What is a parametric EQ?
Well I just found out the answer. For everyone else: More sophisticated built-in EQs offer parametric equalization, which allows you to set the amount (in dB) by which a certain frequency band is boosted or cut — and determine the width and/or center frequency of this band. This gives you extremely precise control of the tonal balance in your vehicle.
My new head unit is going to be a b**** to tune.

be careful with those, are you buying authorized with warranty, or ebay, alpine is having some build issues with 1st gen 2005 9855 series, so just be carful if you got one, and how many bands is it, i bet my pioneer premier 860 is more complicated, it has a 13 band eq, but it also comes with a little mic that measure your vehicle's stuff like distance away the speakers are from your head and all and auto set the time alignment and eq and some other different stuff, it takes some of the work out, but still kinda complicated http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...4496601,00.htm

Speaking of EQs and Head units... I'm going to buy a Denon Head unit with an Optical output and I can only find 3 EQs with bad problems (sorta).
1. Alpine F1 Status System, but I'm not gonna pay 4K for it.
2. Pioneer DEQ-xxx Um, have to use a mathcing head unit to program it.
3. Orion DEQ-30, Well, I found one on ebay for $500 used.
Does anyone know of another eq that can work around these problems???

those 2 are made to be paired together

I'm gonna be running CDTs just for better sound, but Ill eventually upgrade to AudioTechnology 18H52's in the doors and LCY-130's (as soon as they're in stock) in kicks. Not sure what amps yet, wish I could afford the TRU copper tube amps. 13Wx2 would still be enough tube power. I'll have to make custom-made crossovers and trial and error some stuff when I get them in the truck like baffle-step compensation and notch filters and stuff like that. I don't have anything against Pioneer, I love them. But I can't have a weak link in my system. I'm a perfectionist, you see...
