Small subs in rear speaker location?
Small subs in rear speaker location?
Hi. I'm new to the forum and have a 2004 SC FX4.
I've been toying with the idea of putting some small subs (jl audio 6w0 or focal 5ws ) into the rear door locations of my SC. Has anybody else tried this? Anybody know how easy/hard it would be to seal up the rear doors?

dont do it...the subs would be so small that theyd play no bass, especially since you didnt mention some type of highs elimination or amping with low pass filters. go for the real deal. you can put some 6x9s in the doors. mine hit pretty nice and they sound good.
Word. Subs that small would only be good for "mid bass". The enclose air space sucks back there anyway (baffles are a must), but I'd agree with Chriss. Money would be better spent with a dedicated speaker system, or just getting some quality 2 or 3 ways.
The subs I mentioned are real subs. They both play down to around 45hz. They just don't put out a lot of spl, which I figured would be fine, since I prefer sound quality over loud and the Ranger cab is small.
I've got the rest of the system covered:
Alpine 9827 headunit, JL Audio 300/4 amp and CDT CL-61 components for the front doors.
I've got a 10" sub, in a box from my old vehicle, but I'm trying to save some room behind the seats.
