Speaker pop noise

Hey everyone. I'm the proud owner of a 1998 Ranger as of last week. Before I tear apart the radio and speakers looking for the problem I thought somebody here might know what it is.

When I first turn my radio on, there is a loud crackle/pop noise that comes out of the speaker. It only lasts for a second and then it sounds fine after that. It happens every time I turn on the radio. Does anybody know what can cause this?

one of the wires is probly rubbed the the bare in a spot and that is causing the popping sound.

sorry for digging this up, but this sounds like what is happeneing to my truck. I get a crack or pop for whenever I hear bass sometimes. I installed 2 new pioneer speakers up front and left the stock in the back for now. Does it have to do with how I soldered them? or if the the wire is exposed. I cut the clips off and soldered them straight speaker wire to car wire, then i taped them up. I thought it was a clean job, i'm pretty pissed. haha.
