Speaker and sub Q's

Well yesterday i started ripping my interior apart for three reasons, 1. Im puttin cab lights on my truck like the super duty's, 2. Im trying to fix a leak thats in the damn firewall, everytime it rains the carpet literally gets flooded, and 3. im starting the sub and jump seat mod. There will be tons of pics and such scattered through out the forums later on.

Anyways my Question is im starting to build the sub and speaker box as one unit, and does the sound quality change in a speaker if its sealed or not? and second important question is how do you tune a sub box if your porting it?

Lets just say theres gonna be some huge changes and killer mods being done to the interior of the truck.

A ported box will go deeper with less power to it.

I just got mine done....I have always been a big fan of ported its louder....but this time i went sealed....it pounds really hard....if your going to put speakers in the same box as your subs make sure they sealed off from the box....cause the pressure from the subs will push the speakers a ruin them....

Mathematically, a ported box is 3dB (twice as loud) as a sealed box. Also, you have to make sure that you measure the volume of the enclosure very precisely, and make sure you use a "calculator" of some sort to tune the port size.
