does anyone make a decent stereo installation kit? All I can seem to find are the crappy plastic ones made by metra. These things are flimsy and while going down the road the other day I hit a bump and the stereo and kit fell out of the dash. It does'nt hold well anymore. Thanks

cant go wrong there ive gotten 2 kits from em and know bout 5 people runnin em..no problems

 

Crutchfield has some, Scosche,american international are a few that i can think of. And American International are what most places use.

 

Its installed correctly I had it in my 03 B3000 for 3 years and never had a problem. What I think has happened is the little tabs that are supposed to hold it in the dash have kind of set pushed in and maybe the cut out in my new bezel is a little larger. It has never fit right since I transfered it to my new truck. I will look into those other kits also. Thanks!

Once you remove it a few times its done, you need a new one. I had a Metra in my truck and removed it a few times, it then would fall out of the dash. Just bought a new one and it dont move now.

what he said, i have plenty of experience with these kits and once you use it, you cant really reuse them, the clips never hold right.


If you need help installing a stereo, lemme know, I live right down the street in Cibolo :), plus do you know of any good junk yards around? I need a fender for my B3000 and cant really seem to find one...

Sounds like I'll just pick up a new kit today, glad I'm not the only one with these probs. Theres a junk yard I have used a few times to find stuff like ohc, eatc & csm. They dealt more with newer vehicles and had a pretty good selection of rangers and explorers, I never really saw any mazdas altho I wasnt really looking either. Its called A1 Imports(dont let the name fool ya, they have american also).

Yes, well, I WAS an installer for Best Buy for a few years as a part timer. I really want to get backl into it but I cant quit my job as of now cause I make decent money lol.

Eventually when I'm rich I'll go back to it.

 

since when did knu offer dash install kits for cd players?

 

Thats what I was thinking, I couldnt find anything thing for them on there.
