Stock HU Removal

Is there any way to get my stock headunit out without having to buy those removal keys?

Just remove the two screws above the HVAC panel, and pop out the bezel, then push in on the locking tabs from the back and slide it out. I find this faster than the keys most of the time. I don't have good luck with the keys.

Yeah just remove the bezel. It will make it easier to stick all the wires for the 700BT back there anyway.

I got it out no problem this morning and went to put in my double din and it didnt fit. I knew it wasnt going to though. I already knew that there has to be some trimming done. Now I just have to wait for my install kit and power harness to get here and I can finally put it in.

Yeah do you see where you have to trim? Its that lip on the back of the bezel that I needed to trim.

Yea there's like a lip that goes all the way around on the back of the bezel so I'm just going to trim down the lip on the top and bottom.

Even walmart sells the keys. They're so cheap and useful (many many head units use them) I dont see why anyone who does their own audio work wouldn't have them.

It's kind of like changing your tires with out a breaker bar/tire iron. Yeah, you can do it. But the tool designed for the job makes things less complicated. Why would I want to go digging through my tool box for a half inch drive ratchet, correct lug size, and a bar to slip over the rachet handle when I can just grab my breaker bar.

No. I was kinda pissed cause in the picture it showed the gps antenna, the power harness, and the preamp plug. And when I pulled it out of the box none of those wires were there. Oh well...

Thats crap, all that stuff isn't cheap. I had to get a new GPS antenna cause I pulled the plug end off of mine and it was like 20 bucks. Did the add say that it just came with the unit or no cables? I would email them and complain

It never said. Only said that it was a factory reconditioned pioneer product. I guess thats what I get for assuming that it came with everything.
