XM satellite antenna

I installed my XM radio last week and it works fine but in some areas it fades out and it gets annoying. I have the antenna outside the truck mounted near my am/fm antenna. I know they recommend putting it on the roof but the guy at the store said where I have it I shouldn't have any issues. Main thing is that it is outside and not stuck inside on the dash or reception may be bad that way. Im going to try putting it up on the roof and see if that makes a difference but I don't think it will help. For those of you that have the same kind of setup, how is it working for you? Any issues? Thanks!

I had my antenna stuck to a metal bracket in my dash and it worked just as good as having it mounted on the roof of my Ranger.

Maybe having it that close to the am/fm antenna is affecting it? Not sure

Right now I have my xm antenna on the dash in my mustang and the recepion is a little worse than my truck. I will definently move it to the roof soon though. I don't think it being close to the am/fm antenna really matters for reception but anything is possible.

Mine's on the back passenger corner of the roof. I don't know for sure if it's affecting it or not, but I remember the instructions saying to mount it away from any other antennas.

On the other hand, on my Mazda the Sirius antenna is in the base of the radio antenna.... so I wouldn't think it would have anything to do with it!

There are only like 250,000 sattelites in near earth orbit man made.
You aren't going to get 100% reception but more like 90% reception.

Ours fades out here and there and its from the factory.
