I have a lot of scuffs on my truck and they show really bad since i have a white truck. I was wondering if anyone has any tips, info, or website about wet sanding. I've seen what wet sanding can do and it looks amazing.

 

Since you are just starting out I would recommend 2000 grit paper. I use 1500-2000 for most applications. I wrap the paper around a paint stick and sand the area. You don't want to concentrate in one spot too much or you will have a hard time getting rid of the scratches. Use plenty of water. I use a 5 gal bucket, some use a garden hose and some use a spray bottle. Next I buff with a wool pad and start seeing the shine come back. Then I move on and finish buffing with a foam pad. Be very careful around corners and edges!!!

a paint stick will work, or they make blocks just for that. get a soft block that will follow the contour of the body. Sand until the shine is gone, use a lot of water, i like using a spray bottle; a garden house make a mess, and a bucket gets dirty. If you don't have much wax on the paint, it doesn't take very much sanding to take off 1 mil of the clear coat. Depending on the scuffs, they probably aren't very deep. Then buff to shine, careful not to burn through the clear, especially on the body lines, corners, edges of panels, etc.

 

Thanks for the tips, I already bought some 1500 grit paper so i'll take it slow with that. Now can I buff the areas out by hand? I dont have an electric buffer yet. Once again thanks for the tips.
