2.3 duratec timing.

Well I searched and only found info on older (-2001) trucks.
But can someone tell me about the timing system on my 07 2.3? I don't even know if I have a belt, a chain, or gears. Also, would my pistons and valves hit if it went? Or would it just roll over miss firing? And how often should it be done?
