My 02, manual tranny, 2.3L reg cab seems to hesitate then surge under acceleration while running the air. Air blows cold and seems to work fine. It almost feels the air is cutting off and on but I don't really think it is. This is during non full throttle, just normal driving. Would an air unit low on freon act like this? I just got the truck so I can't provide more history. It runs fine and doesn't do this with the air off. It does this going thru the gears and while accelerating from 65 to 70 in fifth gear on the interstate.

 

If im not mistaking its just the compressor turning on and off its normal. The ac is going to suck some power from the engine.

 

yea the a/c will do that...thats just your engine entering its powerband thats why it starts surging
