1999 4x4 auto to manual trans?

1999 4x4 auto to manual trans?
My 5r55 auto trans is starting to shift hard and slip! It's time to swap in a Manual trans! Wondering if i could use a 1999 4 cylinder M5OD 2wd and put a 4wd tail housing on it?
