2001 5speed manual!! Need help

So i was installing my hurst shifter in 2001 ranger 4.0l and i dropped one of the bolts down the whole and yeah i know I'm a idiot ... But i was looking around and i can't find a inspection cover like they have on the automatics is there something I'm missing ?? Im going to be pulling the tranny on thursday and hopefully i can shake the bolt out the drain whole but it would be nice to be able to open up a cover or something to make it easier to get out any advice would be greatly appreciated !!

No, no big pan on manual, they need it on an auto, but don't on a manual.

Sounds like its time for a fluid change! Pull the bottom bolt from the tranny (drain plug) fish out the bold using a magnet, and refil the top bolt with the appropriate fluid until it is full (my 03 3.0 takes ATF.... Verify at an auto parts store to make sure yours is the same)

I just flushed my fluids 1k ago and the magnet didn't work I tried that already .. I'm gunna pump the same fluid back in it I used synchro mesh and it made my truck shift 100x times better and since it's 18 bucks a quart I'm gunna re use it .. Looking at the tranny it looks like there's a top piece that will come off to open up the tranny is true ?? I would like a bigger whole so it would easier to see and get the bolt out

You should have the Mazda M50D-R1HD in there, but look at M50D-R1, they are pretty much the same as far as the top plate.

So, yes there is a top plate but you have to pull the trans to get it off, unless you want to pull the carpet then cut the sheet metal.............
