2008 Ranger 4x4 Sport 5spd *Frustrated*

Hey all I'm new to this site.

I purchased a '08 Ranger last fall and I only have 5000kms on it right now. The clutch pedal would squeak when I would push it all the way in and let it out. It would make a noise each way. So I took it to the dealer and they first tried lubricating it, then they decided it was the slave cylinder so they had it for a day and replaced that. That all happened around 2500 kms. When I got the truck back it was fine, it didn't seem to make a squeak noise when I depressed the clutch. Now at 5000kms again it is making the noise again. Is that telling me I need a new slave cyl again ??? after only 2000kms ???? What kind of crap is that ? I'm not impressed at all. I took it to the dealer the other day and they looked at it again. They said that since they already replaced the slave cylinder that they did all that could be done and told me to my face that it is something that I have to live with. Well excuse me but I didn't pay 30 large to have a brand new truck squeak... like wtf? Call me petty but I find the noise to be very annoying and there should be no excuse for it.

Sorry for the rant but I would like to know if anyone else had any such problem?

go back and tell them to do something to fix the squeak or they can be prepared for a law suit. Seriously, i"m with you. You didn't just drop $30,000 for your car to squeak.

Ya! Had the same problem with my 06, in the shop six times for slave, pressure plate, release bearing twice and then master twice! Noise always came back in a few days!

sucks to hear, Ford doesnt care about the ranger any more and with the terrible engineers they employ i think you should just keep going back and get it fixed. the parts should come with their own warranty not under the ford warranty

my 96 ranger doesn't have a squeaky pedal so yours shouldn't.

And this makes sense how ??

Thanks for your replies I'm hoping to get some resolution on this matter, there really is no need for it.

It was an exaggeration... if a vehicle 12 years older then yours shouldnt squeek.. then why the hell is yours? I know in my 88 ranger it squeaks.. but tahts only becasue of a slight bit of rust on there that I havent taken the time to scrub off.

I guess yoru best bet, is to see EXACTLY where its coming from, just bend down and have someone apply pressure on it off and on.. make sure it isnt somethign as simple as the vinyl getting in the way or something.

At least your clutch pedal only squeaks. I am not able to shift gears every 2 weeks because they need to bleed the clutch!

Take a black permanent marker and put a little dot on the components down there..

Then when you take it in, and they say they will replace and fix it... wait till you get it back, and check it all, see if they really did replace it, or just lubed it hoping for a quick fix :-D

^^Even better....

Use a pink paint pen. Shops use yellow and white paint pens.....pink would be easily seen on the parts that should be replaced.

Mine did it in my 2004 (squeaked that is) and I drove it for 30,000 miles before the slave went. If they just replaced it, I wouldn't worry about it as long as you have good pedal pressure and good engagement / disengagement.... .02

FWIW, when I replaced mine with one from NAPA, it didn't squeak anymore....
