2019 Ford Ranger Transmission Issue
Thank you for having me.
If my question sounds like I know nothing about vehicle maintenance in general - it’s because I don’t… lol! I purchased a 2019 Ranger XLT 4x2 59k miles from CarMax in July 2022; my wife and I both like it, and it gets great mileage. Two days ago, it felt like the vehicle was “hesitating” from a standstill until it reached approx 35 mph; I took it to our mechanic, and they put it on the computer, drove it 20 miles total to get it to repeat the issue with no luck. Yesterday, the automatic transmission shifted from 2nd to 3rd with one heck of a jerk; I knew enough to check the transmission fluid, but later realized it had (what the mechanic informed me later) a sealed transmission. 🙄
I have a mechanic appointment at 0700 hrs tomorrow (there goes traveling for Thanksgiving!) but wanted to know if this a common issue for this model and year- and could this be anything else besides a bum transmission? We do have a CarMax 120k extended warranty that I’m happy we purchaded. Oh- it does have a tow package, and I made sure I didn’t click any button that would engage this. Thank you very much!
