28- 31 spline conversion

Ok so I have the factory 8.8 in the rear of my ranger with the factory posi. It's looser than a 2 dollar hooker at this point (210k mi and all original) and my brakes haven't worked in years... I know that's bad... shut up lol. So it's time for a rebuild. I found a great deal on some parts, yukon locker, gears, rebuild kit... so my question here is if I get 31 spline shafts, and the bearings for a later model explorer will it all fit? I have most everything I need to do this, and am able to set it up myself. I just don't want to blow a thousand bucks on paperweights.

Bearings won't fit. Axle tubes are a different size.
