31 spline 8.8 or keep stock 28 spline?

Im buying a set of 4.10's that have about 45,000 miles on em for a good price. My truck only has 60,000 miles on it so im not looking to have to use em anytime soon, atleast I hope. But I am debating to use these 4.10's in either a 31 spline explorer 8.8 (mainly because the 31 spline out of rangers is so hard to find compared to the explores) or to keep my stock rear end but convert to mustang discs.

With the explorer I obviously have to go buy it, switch master cylin, and cut and reweld the spring perches to the top, but I do get discs already on it, and a stronger axle. Also is the expo 2 inches wider cus if so that would totally be another negative.

with the 28 spline 8.8, I obviously have the weaker of the axle, and I have to swap to discs but I have heard that there is much more choices for pads and rotors for the mustang swap, and the E brake is supposed to be a ton easier to hook up then with the explorer rear.

My truck is just on 33's, 4.0 5 spd 4.10 gears, and I dont hardly offroad so I dont necessarily have to have the 31 spline for strength, but just really looking for discs and something to work on over the winter to put in at some point.

So guys, which would you choose? thanks, Zach.

For what you are using it for I would just stay with the 28 spline

Agreed, If your not off-roading stick with what ya got. There is no need. Why waste your money Even the 31 spline is not that strong. I off road occasionally with my Level II and blew my rear end out last weekend. Then again I was being stupid.

Yeah I realize the 31 spline really isnt that much stronger and the 28 spline is going to be good for what I do. But I do have these extra set and so I figured if I was going to build another axle seperatly, I might as well go to the 31 spline with discs you know what I mean.
